Welcome to China Since 1949, the People’s Republic of China has been attracting visitors far and wide. From 2205 B.C to 1766 B.C. China’s dynasty was known as Xia. For thousands of years China has claimed 19 dynasties for its name. The Chinese take great pride in their country’s history. They have a strong sense of their mythological origins and have kept records of their earlier history. Because of that, China has held strong to its past, and neighboring countries have taken on China’s customs and way of life. Neighboring countries have followed in the path of the Chinese in keeping records of their past and in doing so have survived in the same way the residents of China do. Tradition holds an extraordinary place in the hearts of the Chinese people. Yin and Yang is one such tradition that incorporates the two opposite principles in nature. They rely on each other and can’t exist without one another. The balance of Yin and Yang is highly important. For example, if Yin is strong then Yang will be weak and vise versa. They are never considered being alone. To the Chinese people, Yin and Yang exist in everything. The wildlife in China is absolutely extraordinary. The panda, tiger, and golden monkey are popular animals that make their home in China. Endangered animals include the Chinese tiger, Siberian tigers, snow leopards, and many more. Like many countries, the Chinese are trying to preserve their wildlife the best they can, and they take great pride in the animals that come from there. Over one billion people speak the Chinese language; roughly 95% of the population speaks Chinese. The non-Chinese language consists of Tibetan, Mongolian, Lol, Miao, and Tai, which is spoken by the minorities. Chinese is mostly spoken in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Other Southeast Asia countries speak it as well including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The best times of the year for vacationing in China are in May and during the autumn months of September and October. The southern region of China is typically warm and humid while eastern and central China are relatively dry. Between July and September, China goes through its rainy season which also includes higher risks of typhoons in the southeast portion. Northern China is where you will experience the best aspects of the four seasons. Make sure that you check with your travel agent for their opinion on when the best time of the year is to travel if you’re a little unsure. |
