Museums Rich culture and an abundance of artwork fill the many museums that grace China. With so many museums available, you will definitely want to do some research to see which ones will interest you the most. When converting from the Chinese Yuan to the US dollar the prices for admission are extremely reasonable. China Aviation Museum – Travel forty miles outside of Beijing and you will reach the China Aviation Museum which is located at the foot of Xiao Tang Hill. The museum opened on the 40th anniversary of the Founding of Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to the public in 1989. Over 200 airplanes are at the China Aviation Museum ranging from Bombers, ground air missiles, and aircraft from World War II. Hours of operation are 8AM to 5:30PM daily. The price of admission is $5 USD. Beijing Museum of Natural History – With over 5,000 pieces of Zoology, Botany and Paleontology lining the halls, visiting the Beijing Museum of Natural History will be a full day excursion. Prehistoric fossils date back at least 100 million years. The Hall of Zoology exhibits lynx, peacocks, parrots, jellyfish, coral, and many more amazing artifacts. The Hall of Botany displays specimens that are all still rich and vibrant in color. Hours of operation are from 8:30AM to 4PM. The price of admission is $1.81 USD. The Shanghai Museum – Five floors above ground and two floors below ground make The Shanghai Museum an all day attractions for visitors. The museum has been open to the public since 1995 and contains over 120,000 remnants of historical times in ancient China. Gorgeous collections of painting, sculptures and ceramics will delight visitors. Hours of operation are from 9AM to 5PM. The price of admission is $2.42 USD. Hong Kong Space Museum – Take a venture into outer space when you visit the Hong Kong Space Museum. Children will have a great time learning about our universe and the technology behind it. The Hong Kong Space Museum houses one of the largest planetariums in the world. Sky shows and a space theater will be a fun way for everyone in your family to learn about our solar system. Hours of operation are from 1PM to 9PM on Monday’s and Wednesday through Friday and on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 10AM to 9PM. The museum is closed on Tuesday (except public holidays) and the first two days of the Lunar New Year. |
